| Gender Task Force |
|
| Countries of the region have an extremely low percentage of women participating in national parliaments and local politics. The main objective is the promotion of greater women's political participation. Women's capacity building, increasing women's chances to stand for election and strengthening national gender mechanisms for the promotion of equality are the priorities. |
 |
The Gender Task Force works on three pillars:
-
increasing public awareness of women's political participation in elections and political processes in general;
-
reform of existing electoral systems and legislation where needed to promote women's political participation;
-
establish governmental institutions to promote gender equality and improve and strengthen existing mechanisms.
In the first phase, the Task Force will:
-
get more programming and reporting on women's political participation through Media / Information Campaigns;
-
obtain necessary information for women in SEE to develop essential skills to run for office and increase their electability;
-
analyze legislation and practices in SEE from a gender perspective.
