MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT OF MOLDAVIA AND STABILITY PACT
CO-ORDINATOR

President Lucinski of Moldavia
met Special Co-ordinator Bodo Hombach for talks in Brussels on the evening of 12 July.

The President emphasised Moldavia’s wish to become a full participant in the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe. In a very positive and open discussion on this point it was noted that considerable support existed for such a development which would, however, require consensus at the next Regional Table meeting of the Stability Pact.

The President and Special Co-ordinator agreed that significant foreign investment opportunities existed in Moldavia. These should be exploited to the full. The Special Co-ordinator’s office would use the networks and instruments at its disposal to help attract productive economic activity to Moldavia.

The Special Co-ordinator congratulated the President and the Government of Moldavia on their determined reform efforts. The Stability Pact would do all it could to help underpin these efforts, in the run-up to the next Regional Table meeting and beyond.
