In cooperation with the ILO and the Council of Europe, the ISC work in this sector includes:

• Awareness-raising concerning the importance of policy reforms in the area of social protection amongst decision makers, especially with regard to contribution collection and cross-border coordination questions, namely the cross border delivery of pension and other social benefits.

• Advocacy of policy reforms in view of enhancing the macro-economic sustainability and the effectiveness of social protection schemes, mainly by developing systems of accountability and financial management control.

• Maintaining the platform for regional co-operation and sharing of experiences in view of learning from other transition countries and of converging towards EU and international standards in the area of social protection.

• Developing synergies with other ISC activities and other Stability Pact Initiatives, e.g.  the Anti- Corruption Initiative in relation to transparency and accountability mechanisms for the administration of public funds and fight against the grey economy.
