Regional Table and Working Table Meetings

Stability
Pact to hold its bi-annual meetings The
Stability Pact's highest decision-making forum, the bi-annual
Regional Table, took place in Skopje on 19 November. It was preceded
by two days of theme-focused Working Table meetings where issues
of Democratisation and Human
Rights (Working Table I), Economic
Reconstruction, Development and Cooperation (Working Table
II) and Security (Working
Table III) were discussed by participating countries and organizations.
They included representatives of governments from South Eastern
Europe, the EU Member States, non-EU countries, including Norway,
Switzerland, and the United States, European Commission, Council
of the EU, United Nations Mission in Kosovo, OSCE, Council of
Europe, OECD, World Bank and EBRD. The
meeting of the
Regional Table was opened by Acting Prime Minister
Radmila Sekerinska and addressed, among others, by Foreign
Minister Ilinka Mitreva, Foreign Ministers Miodrag
Vlahovic (Montenegro) and Andrei Stratan (Moldova). Distinguished
writer and politician George Schöpflin, Member of the European
Parliament, gave a keynote address on the importance
of parliamentary cooperation. Meetings
of the Working Tables took place on 17 and 18 November. Each
Working Table adopted progress reports and reports of the Task
Forces linked to the work of the Working Tables, as well as conclusions
that have been fed into the overall Regional Table conclusions. Regional
