Regional Table and Working Table Meetings
Skopje, 17-19 November 2004

Stability Pact to hold its bi-annual meetings

The Stability Pact's highest decision-making forum, the bi-annual Regional Table, took place in Skopje on 19 November. It was preceded by two days of theme-focused Working Table meetings where issues of Democratisation and Human Rights (Working Table I), Economic Reconstruction, Development and Cooperation (Working Table II) and Security (Working Table III) were discussed by participating countries and organizations. They included representatives of governments from South Eastern Europe, the EU Member States, non-EU countries, including Norway, Switzerland, and the United States, European Commission, Council of the EU, United Nations Mission in Kosovo, OSCE, Council of Europe, OECD, World Bank and EBRD.

The meeting of the Regional Table was opened by Acting Prime Minister Radmila Sekerinska and addressed, among others, by Foreign Minister Ilinka Mitreva, Foreign Ministers Miodrag Vlahovic (Montenegro) and Andrei Stratan (Moldova).

Distinguished writer and politician George Schöpflin, Member of the European Parliament, gave a keynote address on the importance of parliamentary cooperation.

Meetings of the Working Tables took place on 17 and 18 November. Each Working Table adopted progress reports and reports of the Task Forces linked to the work of the Working Tables, as well as conclusions that have been fed into the overall Regional Table conclusions.
