Mr Georgi Gotev has been appointed Spokesperson of the Stability Pact. He is a former deputy chief editor of Standart, one of the major Bulgarian daily newspapers. He is a graduate of the University of Bucharest and the Diplomatic academy of Spain. He has a diplomatic background, having been the First Secretary in the Bulgarian Mission to the EU in 1993-1997. He has served as liaison officer for the EU monitoring mission on the borders of former Yugoslavia and as liaison to SAMCOMM - the office coordinating the sanctions against former Yugoslavia. He has also been responsible for relations with the European Parliament and Justice and Home Affairs. As a journalist he has covered the NATO airstrikes on Yugoslavia in 1999, as well as other hotbeds of tension such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran.
