Invitation to Press Conference: Human Trafficking Statistics – Stability Pact Instruments to Fight Organized Crime




 

The fight against trafficking in human beings and organized crime within the framework of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe will be the topic of a press conference hosted by the Netherlands OSCE Chairmanship on 30 September in the Hofburg Congress Centre, Vienna.   The Special Co-ordinator of the Stability Pact, Erhard Busek, and the Chair of the Stability Pact Task Force on Trafficking in Human Beings, Helga Konrad, will brief media on related activities, after their joint presentation to OSCE Delegations. 

Amongst other items, Helga Konrad will present the first Annual Report of the Regional Clearing Point, based in Belgrade.  The Regional Clearing Point has been established in July 2002 in order to collect regional data on victims of trafficking and victims assistance.  Special Co-ordinator Erhard Busek will outline the various activities and instruments for fighting organized crime in the Stability Pact framework, including combating trafficking in human beings.

Admission for OSCE-accredited journalists is on production of the press pass.  Non-accredited media need to show a valid press card.  Free parking for media attending the conference will be available in the designated OSCE parking area of the Heldenplatz from 11.00 a.m. Cards must be obtained at the security desk in the OSCE entrance lobby and displayed in the vehicle.
