The Special Co-ordinator of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, Bodo Hombach, will visit the Elbasan Small Weapons Destruction Facility on Friday, February 2. The Facility is one of over 30 Stability Pact Projects, which have started in Albania or have Albanian participation in a regional forum, as part of the Quick Start Program. For this program 2,4 billion Euro were earmarked in 2000 for the entire region. Albania’s share is about 50 mio Euro, of which 320 mio Euro are going into infrastructure projects, mainly road construction.
Apart from his visit to the Elbasan facility, Mr Hombach is scheduled to meet President Meidani, Prime Minister Meta, various members of the Government as well as politicians and members of parliament. He will also meet members of the diplomatic community in Tirana, including the “Friends of Albania”.
