The 3rd round of negotiations on the simultaneous enlargement and amendment of CEFTA will take place in Brussels from 13 to 15 September. Chaired by the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe and hosted by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Trade, senior trade officials from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia, as well representatives of UNMIK Kosovo will meet to make a significant progress towards finalising the text of an a modern trade agreement.
Based on two previous rounds of negotiations in June and July, the agreement is taking shape and when finalised will include some aspects of modern trade policy that were not included in the original CEFTA text, notably trade in services, public procurement and intellectual property rights.
The negotiating parties are SEE countries and territories, while the Stability Pact, the European Commission and the World Trade Organiation and other international trade experts provide advice and guidance.
