Vojvodina European Region and the EU integration of Serbia and Montenegro




Forum for Ethnic Relations in partnership with the Vojvodina Province Executive Council, Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, Republic of Serbia Ministry for State Administration and Local Self-Government, Ministry for Human Rights and National Minorities of the Council of Ministers of S&M and Open Society Fund in Belgrade are organizing a Roundtable titled: Vojvodina - European Region and Association of Serbia / S&M to European Union.

Roundtable opening would take place on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at 20:00 Club "New York", Hotel "Intercontinetal", Beograd, Vladimira Popovića, 10, and Working sessiones on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 9:00, Sava Centar (Room 3/0), Belgrade, Milentija Popovića, 9 (Agenda is enclosed to this letter)

Main goals of a Roundtable are:

  1. To promote European values of Vojvodina and its position in regional cooperation through international political and technical cooperation;
  2. To present to Serbian, S&M and international public strengths and opportunities of Vojvodina to become a factor of connecting Serbia and S&M with neighbors and strengthening relations with the countries of Danube and Panonian Region (Austria, Croatia, Hungary), and the countries of South Eastern Europe (Romania, Bulgaria);
  3. To contribute the promotion and speed up the association of Vojvodina, Serbia and S&MD to European Union;
  4. To help Vojvodina Government actively include in the process of constitutional definition of the position of Vojvodina within Serbia, and promotion of regionalism and democratic minority policy in the new Constitution of Serbia;
  5. To animate potential investors, bilateral and multilateral development organizations in S&M, EU institutions, local and international consulting agencies, NGOs, representatives of foreign embassies.
